COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDS GRANTS THROUGHOUT CHIPPEWA COUNTY
 
The Community Foundation of Chippewa County has completed its 2006-2007 grant process. Grants totaling $31,313 have been distributed throughout seven communities in Chippewa County. Each year the number of funds and the assets held by the Community Foundation grows. This year fifteen additional endowment funds reached the level at which they could begin to distribute grants. 
 
This year grants were distributed from the following funds through a competitive application process:
 
Fred R. Bowe Endowment Fund - Committee for the 21st Century toward purchase of native trees & a permanent directory for Irvine Park; and Chippewa Moraine Ice Age Unit (New Auburn), snowshoes for student fieldtrips.
  

 
Mary and Jerry Jacobson Family Endowment - Prairie Outdoor Classroom (Bloomer), toward purchase of trees; and Cub Scout Pack 161 toward Obstacle Course improvements at Camp Phillips.
 
Chet and Irene Lindsey Endowment - Chippewa Falls Main Street toward the Past Passed Here, and Prairie Outdoor Classroom (Bloomer).
 
Harold D. "Mac" McDonald Endowment - Cub Scout Pack 161 - toward Obstacle Course improvements at Camp Phillips.
 
Mildred C. "Penny" Mars Memorial Endowment - Chippewa Moraine Ice Age Unit (New Auburn), snowshoes for student fieldtrips; Junior Achievement - to expand Junior Achievement program to Cornell & Holcombe; Cadott Junior High School - Trees for Tomorrow.
 

   Northwestern Bank School Mini-grants Fund: Parkview Elementary - 4th Grade Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Renewable Energy Power Plant project and fieldtrip; Southview Elementary - Camera and cordless microphone for 5th grade TV News Station/WSVW; Stillson Elementary- Bus Buddies student service and safety program; Holy Ghost Elementary - 4th Grade Junior Master Gardener program, and 5th grade Minnesota Zoo/IMAX Fieldtrip; Notre Dame Middle School - Snowball USB microphone for 6th grade podcasts, and 7th grade travel resources for Canada study; St. Peters (Tilden), DVD Yearbook & Newspaper; and Stanley-Boyd Middle School - Motivating Positive Character, Life Skills. 

 
Eight agencies received annual distributions from their endowment funds. These were:
Chippewa Area Mentor Program, Chippewa County Historical Society, Chippewa County Humane Association, Chippewa Falls Area Senior Center, Chippewa Falls Museum of Industry and Technology, Chippewa Falls Parks, Recreation and Forestry, Chippewa Falls Public Library, and Chippewa Valley Cultural Association. 
 
In addition, distributions were made to organizations designated by the donors from the Carey B. Kell Endowment Fund and the Bejin Family Endowment Fund. Three Donor Advised Funds also produced funds available for distribution recommended by the donor advisors - the Greenhalgh Memorial Music Endowment Fund, the John A. and Jane E. Mason Lubs Family Endowment Fund and the Chippewa County Agricultural Advancement Fund.
